There hasn't been much Club news to report recently. Until now...
JUNIOR SOUTH OF ENGLAND TOURNAMENT
Bexleyheath was up with the leaders at this major competition.
Adam and Glen broke the Tournament Record for Doubles high series (handicap).

KENT COUNTY TEAM
Laura and Adam have had their places in the squad confirmed. The U18 sqad has not been announced yet but Glen came first in the roll-offs.

CONGRATULATIONS
Martin announced to the club that he recently passed BTBA Phase 1 instructor training and is now an official trainer for BHYBC. The club congratulated Martin on his achievement.
CLUB OFFICERS
Selwyn's BTBA club officer's licence has expired so he has had to resign as vice-president. David has agreed to stand in as VP until Selwyn's new licence comes through and he can be re-appointed.
BTBA CARDS
The club have now received the BTBA cards. All cards will be held by the BHYBC, however if any bowler would like to hold their own card they can but by doing so they take full responsibility for it and must remember to take it to any competitions, if forgotten the bowler will need to pay full price at the competition.
As part of the liaison between the TBPA and the BTBA, TBPA have offered all BTBA members six free games as part of the benefits of BTBA membership. The free games are offered on a 'Buy one get one free' basis at off-peak times. BHYBC members were handed a loyalty voucher card.
SOUTH OF ENGLAND COMPETITION - DUNSTABLE
This event will take place on 20th January 2011, please see Martin urgently if you would like to attend, as entries need to be in by 15th December.
KENT ROLL-OFFS
The Kent trials will be taking place on 12th December 2010, please see Martin for more details.

AVERAGES
Bowlers averages are worked out over a 9 game period. Therefore, if you are new to BHYBC your correct handicap will only be shown after you have played 9 games. If you need further information regarding handicaps/averages please see a BHYBC instructor.

It has been a good year for Bexleyheath, with some fantastic results, well done to all bowlers.
The finances are looking healthy and Elaine R has kindly agreed to take over as BHYBC Treasurer. Nicki S has agreed to be BHYBC's Child Protection Officer.

Glen R was nominated as BHYBC Captain.
To ensure that valuable training time is not wasted upon people who are not interested members may now opt out of the weekly training schedule.
Bowlers receiving training on a Saturday will not lose out on points; they will be credited with 4 points on their score sheets.
IMPORTANT: To ensure that the 4 points is allocated to them bowlers must write TRNG on their score sheet.

SHIRTS
BHYBC has purchased new black and gold competition shirts, which will be ready in mid April. The new shirts will be worn at this years Nationals competition and any future competitions. The cost per shirt is £15.00 and this will include the cost of the embroidery, please pay Elaine as soon as possible. Shirts will only be given out to bowlers who have paid for them.

ADJUSTING YOUR GAME
Bowlers must remember lane conditions vary especially when attending a competition at another bowling centre. Bowlers must make the necessary adjustments to their bowling - remember to watch what's happening on the lane and adjust your bowling if necessary.
DRESS CODE
All bowlers must remember to wear their BHYBC bowling shirts on Saturday mornings - No Jeans or commando type trousers are allowed. Incorrect dress at competitions could result in your being refused entry.

To clarify the scoring:
A team with no opponents at all, because they are playing the 'invisible' team or because both opposing team members fail to arrive, will play against its own blind scores to decide points.
Please see David or Paul if you have any further queries regarding points. Sadly, the more this is explained, the more complicated it sounds. It's easy really.

Aaron has been observed by the instructors actually putting his new knowledge to use and bowling a little differently. This has resulted in a new personal high series; his first badge since summer 2008. Could it mean that training actually works? Mind you, you have to listen to learn!

He is providing information and running some competitions. The committee wish him success. Anything that maintains team spirit and interest in the club is a good thing.
Just for the record, the YBC committee has no involvement with the site or its content and won't be monitoring it. That does mean that we won't know what you're doing. Which may be a good thing for all!

So far 8 people have received a whole morning's intensive training. Teams are taken from their lanes, to ensure everyone is trained in turn. Their abandoned opponents will play against each other in the normal way.
Nobody loses out in the league because of training and it might actually improve your game!
